How to get the right skills for your dream career
The path to your ideal career can be difficult to navigate. Sometimes, you need certain skills which aren’t easy to develop on your own. That’s why BASE places so much emphasis on providing opportunities for job seekers and people already employed but looking to better themselves to learn and hone their talents.
The BASE foundation
This programme is specifically designed to arm you with the right skills for employment at Battersea Power Station. Rolled out by our local partner, South Thames College, this pre-employment course is aimed at people who don’t have jobs yet and provides them with everything they’ll need for a fulfilling career. If you’re interested in a career in the fast-paced, exciting world of hospitality, this initiative will serve as the perfect introduction to the industry. You’ll be able to familiarise yourself with what’s required to be successful, from the art of being an excellent barista to the importance of clinical food hygiene.
And the lessons are easy to work around your schedule, running every two weeks in July and August at South Thames College campuses in Tooting and Wandsworth on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Lessons start at 9:30 and finish at 3:30, making the programme a stress-free addition to your normal routine. Find out more here.
Service excellence
If you’re interested in a career at Battersea Power Station, our Service Excellence programme is also worth bearing in mind. Skills development doesn’t stop once you’ve landed your job – there’s always more to learn and new ways to improve. At BASE, we’re committed to the very highest standard of customer service, and the programme is our way of helping BPS employees reach that level.
Designed as a one-day intensive course for employees, you’ll learn more about delivering quality service, as well how to get the most out of working within a team. The industries we work with are all about supporting and collaborating with the people around you to provide the best possible experience for visitors and customers – the Service Excellence programme will help you make that happen. You’ll learn how to canvass the full range of customers and stakeholders, and how to tailor your approach accordingly. It’s also a unique and valuable insight into the vision and heritage behind Battersea Power Station, helping you become a fully engaged pioneer for the project.
