Kitchen Porter – Duck & Rice

The Role

The Kitchen porters are responsible for ensuring the hygiene standards and cleanliness are adhered to at all times. The porter is also responsible for maintaining the cleaning equipment, safe chemical usage and storing in the cleaning section.
 

Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including dishwashing, mopping floors, and sanitizing surfaces.
  • Wash and sanitize kitchen utensils, dishes, and cookware.
  • Receive and properly store deliveries of food and supplies.
  • Operate and maintain dishwashing equipment.
  • Dispose of kitchen waste in a safe and sanitary manner.
  • Follow food safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized storage area for kitchen supplies and equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned by the kitchen management team or head chef.

Requirements  

Requirements for this role may include physical ability to lift heavy items, good organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast paced, high-pressure environment.
 

General Duties

  • Preparing the dishwashing section prior to each shift
  • Ensuring all crockery, cutlery, etc. is cleaned according to the hygiene standards. Also, is readily available to the chefs for service
  • Ensuring they report for duty on time and dressed appropriately
  • Ensuring safe hygiene practices are maintained at all times
  • Ensuring the highest quality of cleaning is maintained on a consistent basis
  • Ensuring legal compliance with hygiene regulations
  • Ensure all work areas are kept clean and tidy and are completely cleaned at the end of each shift
  • Receiving all goods and supplies
  • Unload food and equipment deliveries
  • Ensuring the kitchen is cleaned in preparation for the next day
