Maintenance Assistant – Duck and Rice Battersea Power Station
DUCK and RICE are recruiting a Maintenance Assistant for their Battersea Power Station Restaurant
Reporting to: General Manager

The Role
As a Maintenance Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of facilities and equipment. Your responsibilities will include performing routine maintenance tasks, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with the maintenance team to address various repair needs. The ideal candidate should possess a strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to maintenance activities.
Responsibilities
Routine Maintenance:
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities and equipment to identify and address maintenance needs.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks on machinery, systems, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and report any issues to the maintenance manager.
Repairs and Troubleshooting:
- Respond promptly to repair requests and troubleshoot issues with equipment and facilities.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to diagnose and resolve complex maintenance problems.
- Assist in repairing or replacing faulty components, ensuring minimal downtime.
Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while performing maintenance tasks.
- Identify and report potential safety hazards to the maintenance manager.
- Participate in safety training programs and promote a culture of safety within the organization.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with other maintenance staff, contractors, and relevant departments to coordinate maintenance activities.
- Communicate effectively with team members and share knowledge to enhance overall maintenance efficiency.
Inventory Management:
- Co-ordinating with the maintenance manager in monitoring and managing the inventory levels of maintenance supplies and equipment.
- Coordinate with the head of procurement to ensure timely replenishment of necessary supplies.
General Maintenance
- Respond to emergencies and resolve all maintenance issues, prioritising critical maintenance work, which may impact health and safety, trading and customer service.
- Conduct planned services to equipment within the scope of your ability and professional training.
- Provide access and assistance to external contractors as required.
- Pass all relevant safety information to all the staff to ensure that they follow safety procedures.
- Complete safely and effectively basic general maintenance tasks as required:
- Use PPE at all times as required
- No gas work is authorised to be undertaken as part of role responsibilities
- Strictly adhere to Health & Safety policy and procedures
- Check electrical and hydraulic systems and general as part of preventative maintenance work, i.e. kitchen equipment, extractors etc.
- Assign work or undertake basic decoration work, if required
Electrical
- Only undertake electrical modifications that are safe and within the scope of your ability and professional training.
- Assist with general electrical and AC units diagnostics and repairs as required.
- Install electrical, IT and EPOS equipment as required
Plumbing
- Undertake general plumbing fault finding and repairs as required.
Legal, compliance and administration
- Be fully conversant with every aspect of the Company policies and procedures and adhere to them at all times.
- Ensure the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met regarding all the Company’s maintenance controls, policies and procedures.
- Comply with all current professional standards e.g. Edition Electrical Regulations.
- Ensure all certificates of compliance are maintained and up to date in accordance with regulations.
- Strictly adhere to health and safety procedures and manual instructions when carrying out maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment.
- Follow safe systems of working and meet all relevant legal requirements for the job being carried out at all times.
- Ensure that the place of work is left in a safe condition after completing any job and before leaving the location.
- Ensure that Health and Safety standards are complied with at the units and report immediately any concerns to the Operations Director

- Ensure that all potential and real hazards are reported immediately and rectified
- Assume responsibility for the safety of the persons and property of all within the premises, by strict adherence to existing laws, statutes and applicable ordinances, and by anticipating possible and probable hazards and conditions and either correcting them or pre-planning a defence against them
- Perform role duties in a manner, that is safe and unlikely to give risk of harm or injury to yourself or others

- Encourage a general awareness of Health and Safety in relation to all tasks and activities undertaken in the department
- Be aware of, and enforce, Company’s policies in respect of human resources and staff welfare
